Your impact

Where your gift goes

We're an all-volunteer department — nobody here draws a paycheck for answering your call. But running two stations is not free. Across the country, rural volunteer departments operate on anywhere from roughly $60,000 to $400,000 a year, and the price tags behind the gear, trucks, and training only keep climbing. Every dollar you give goes straight to keeping us ready.

Here's what your support actually pays for:

Gear & safety equipment

Outfitting one firefighter in structural turnout gear — coat, pants, boots, gloves, hood, helmet, and an SCBA air pack — runs $11,500 to $16,500. NFPA rules require that gear be replaced every 10 years no matter how lightly it's used, and air-pack bottles and tests add cost every year.

Apparatus & fuel

A new fire engine can cost anywhere from $200,000 to well over $1 million. Even with our trucks paid for, there's diesel, tires, pumps, annual pump testing, and constant maintenance to keep "the Beast" and the rest of the fleet rolling and reliable.

Two stations to keep open

We operate two stations — and both have bills. Electricity, water, internet, and phone service all have to be paid every month so the lights stay on, the bay doors open, and dispatch can reach our crews 24/7.

Training & certification

Our members hold state and national certifications, and keeping them current isn't cheap — a single class can run up to $1,100. Texas A&M Forest Service grants help cover some of it, but travel, materials, and the classes those grants don't reach come back to the department.

Become a sustaining supporter

Give monthly

A recurring gift is the single most valuable kind of support a volunteer department can have — it turns "someday" money into something we can actually plan around. Even a few dollars a month, if you're able, adds up across the community to steady, dependable funding for gear, fuel, and training. Pick an amount and a processor below; you can change or cancel anytime.

$10/mo

Helps keep gear and equipment mission-ready.

$50/mo
